Web Strategy

A strategy for the future of the UNSW web environment was outlined in the report of the 2007 Web Project, conducted under the auspices of the Office of Media and Communications and funded through the IT Investment Plan. The project team was charged with assessing the current situation and making recommendations for the creation of a new dynamic web presence for the University.

The project report identified the need for a radical overhaul of the central UNSW web site and made a number of recommendations relating to the wider University web environment. They were developed through extensive consultation across the University and with external experts, and took into account the results of intensive useability testing of the central site.

Key recommendations included utilizing up to date web technology to create a user-friendly, more interactive web environment; developing user-oriented gateways for our prime target audiences; instituting a governance framework and clear policy guidelines; and establishing a properly resourced Central Web Unit.
